The Tesla Gateway 2 AC Connection Box is the intelligent control centre for Tesla Powerwall energy storage systems. Designed specifically for the South African market, the Gateway enables seamless communication between the grid, solar system, and Powerwall batteries while managing backup power, energy monitoring, and system control.
The Gateway is a mandatory component for both Tesla Powerwall 2 and Tesla Powerwall 3 installations. It automatically detects grid outages, manages energy flow, and allows homeowners to monitor and control their energy system remotely through the Tesla mobile app.

Intelligent Energy Management
The Tesla Gateway continuously monitors household energy consumption, solar production, battery status, and grid availability. It intelligently controls energy flow to maximise solar self-consumption, maintain backup reserves, and optimise battery charging and discharging.
Automatic Backup Switching
During a power outage, the Gateway automatically disconnects the property from the utility grid and transitions the Powerwall system into backup mode. This seamless transfer ensures uninterrupted power to supported household circuits.
